Program Dates: 7/27 - 8/14
Prerequisites: Math 220, Math

Application Deadline: Wednesday,December 10, 2014
The Department of Mathematics at Penn State has had a long- standing partnership with Peking University. The two institutions host a three-week summer program every year that alternates locations. In 2014, Penn State students traveled to Beijing and in 2015 students from Peking University will come here to University Park.
Program content varies but in the past courses covered such topics as dynamical systems (2012), applied mathematics (2010), and numerical methods for differential equations (2008, 2009). In 2014 and 2015, the topic will be “Geometry and Mathematical Physics”.
The program will be an REU type program, consisting of group research projects coordinated by both PSU and PKU faculty members, classroom discussions, lectures, problem solving sessions and organized group trips. Interacting with faculty and undergraduate students from Peking University, the top university in China, the summer program allows students to acquire research skills and learn the program's content while experiencing Chinese educational culture.
Costs and Funding(2015):
The PSU Department of Mathematics will provide each of the selected students with a flat amount of $2,000 to cover their travel, lodging and daily expenses for the program's duration. The Department of Mathematics will help the students to secure lodging during that time period.
